Marrakech - Ait Ben Haddou - Zagora
Your Erg Chigaga Tours From Marrakech begin with an 8:00 AM pickup. We cross the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n'Tichka Pass, enjoying panoramic views. Our first major stop is the famous Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site and backdrop for films like *Gladiator*. We continue south, crossing the Anti-Atlas mountains to Agdz, where the spectacular Draa Valley begins. We drive along this lush ribbon of palms to reach Zagora, where you will spend the night in a traditional guesthouse.
Zagora - Tamegroute - Erg Chigaga Dunes
After breakfast, we continue south to Tamegroute to visit the ancient Quranic library and the famous green pottery workshops. We reach M'hamid El Ghizlane, the end of the paved road. Wake up early to watch the sunrise over the vast sea of sand. After breakfast, we depart the camp in our 4x4s, driving across the dried salt flat of Lake Iriqui. This remote route was once part of the Paris-Dakar rally. We reach the desert town of Foum Zguid and rejoin the paved road. We travel through Taznakht, famous for its Berber carpets, before crossing the Anti-Atlas again to reach Ouarzazate. Overnight stay in a hotel.
Ouarzazate - Atlas Studios - Marrakech
On the final day, you have time to visit the Atlas Film Studios or the Kasbah Taourirt in Ouarzazate. We then begin the return journey over the High Atlas Mountains. We will make stops for lunch and coffee, allowing you to soak in the mountain views one last time. We arrive back in Marrakech in the late afternoon, where your driver will drop you off at your accommodation.
