Departure & High Atlas Mountains
Your Marrakech To Ait Benhaddou Day Trip begins with an early pickup from your hotel (approx. 7:30 AM). We head southeast, climbing the High Atlas Mountains via the spectacular Tizi n'Tichka pass. We make several stops for photos of the winding roads and traditional Berber villages tucked into the mountainsides.
Ait Benhaddou Guided Tour
Around mid-morning, we arrive at the fortified village (Ksar) of Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Your guide will lead you across the river and through the ancient earthen alleys, explaining the history of this former caravan route stop and pointing out locations used in famous movies.
Lunch & Ouarzazate
After exploring the Ksar, we continue to Ouarzazate. Enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant. Afterward, you can visit the Taourirt Kasbah, a 19th-century palace with intricate decoration, or take a tour of the Atlas Film Studios (entrance fees optional) to see sets from The Mummy and Kingdom of Heaven.
Return to Marrakech
In the late afternoon, we begin our return journey over the High Atlas Mountains. Relax and enjoy the changing colors of the landscape as the sun sets. We arrive back in Marrakech around 7:00 PM to 7:30 PM, dropping you off at your accommodation.
