Detailed Itinerary
Marrakech – High Atlas – Ait Ben Haddou – Dades Valley
Your 4 day tour from Marrakech to Fes begins with an 8:00 AM pickup. We ascend the High Atlas Mountains via the dramatic Tizi n'Tichka pass, offering panoramic views of Berber villages. We stop at the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Ben Haddou, a spectacular fortified village famous as a backdrop for movies like Gladiator. After lunch near Ouarzazate (the "Hollywood of Africa"), we continue through the Skoura palm groves and the Valley of Roses, finally arriving at the stunning Dades Valley for dinner and overnight.
Dades Valley – Todra Gorges – Merzouga Sahara Desert
After breakfast, we drive to the imposing Todra Gorge, where 300m high red cliff walls create a narrow canyon popular with rock climbers. We continue through the arid landscapes and fossil towns like Erfoud. In the afternoon, we arrive in Merzouga, the gateway to the Sahara. Here, you switch 4x4s for dromedaries. Enjoy a magical 1-hour sunset camel trek across the shifting Erg Chebbi dunes to reach your luxury desert camp. The night includes a traditional Berber dinner, local drum music, and sleeping under an incredible canopy of stars.
Merzouga Desert – Ziz Valley – Midelt
Wake up early to witness a breathtaking sunrise over the Sahara dunes—a highlight of this 4 days trip from Marrakech to Fes. After breakfast and showering at the camp, we trek back by camel or 4WD. We begin our journey north, traveling through the immense Ziz Valley, famous for its endless date palm groves. We climb through the dramatic landscapes of the Anti-Atlas mountains before arriving in Midelt, a town nestled between mountain ranges and known for its apples and fossils. Overnight stay in a hotel in Midelt.
Midelt – Cedar Forest (Azrou) – Ifrane – Fes
After breakfast, we continue through the Middle Atlas mountains. Our main stop is the ancient Cedar Forest near Azrou, where we will hopefully spot the friendly wild Barbary Macaque monkeys in their natural habitat. We pass through Ifrane, known as "Little Switzerland" for its alpine architecture and clean streets. In the late afternoon, we arrive in Fes, the spiritual and cultural capital of Morocco. Your driver will drop you off at your Riad, marking the end of the tour.
